Avant même l’arrivée des contrôleurs, les nombreux supporters anglais avaient envahis les couloirs de la patinoire, prêts à soutenir leur équipe. Toute une travée leur était réservée et ils se pliaient avec joie aux sollicitations des photographes !! Drapeaux étendus, couleurs affichées et fierté d’anglais, ils ne sont pas venus pour passer inaperçus.
Just before the tickets inspectors was there to check in the ice-rink entrance, the English fans made the rink their home, ready to support their team. An whole stand, about 250 fans, was for them and they were enjoying the photographers’ demand !! Flags out on the walls, colored jerseys wore on and pride to be English; they weren’t come to be unnoticed.

La mascotte des Coventry Blaze

Leur mascotte, un crocodile, essayait de mettre l’ambiance dans les autres travées à peine pleines.
Their mascot, a crocodile, tried to set the mood in the stands partly crowded.
Sur la glace, les anglais sont aussi un peu « comme chez eux » avec une domination quasi sans faille dès l’entame du match.
On the ice, the English fans are a little bit like at home with a domination without failure since the beginning of the match.

A noter la présence d’un Dan Carlson dans les rangs anglais « souvenir, souvenir » pour les rouennais qui sont venus assister à ce premier match.
We could notice Dan Carlson on the ice but not the one we knew before, « souvenir, souvenir » for the fans of Rouen.

A la fin du match, la consommation excessive de liquide se faisait ressentir et les toilettes masculines faisaient « recette ».
At the end of the match, the excessive consumption of some kind of liquid by the English fans made the loo a little bit…crowded ;)

Les gradins se sont remplis peu à peu pendant le match opposant Rouen à Cracovie mais on pouvait espérer mieux pour une série européenne.
The stands were filled little by little during Rouen-Cracovie opposition but we could expect better atmosphere for an European tournament.

Trevor Koenig, l’ex portier de Rouen et de Coventry, faisait passer un petit message de soutien par le biais de Facebook à notre photographe. La transmission du message à l’ensemble du public rouennais fera monter des tribunes un tonnerre d’applaudissements.
Trevor Koenig, former goaltender of both Rouen and Coventry teams, sent a little message to the whole crowd tanks to our photograph…and Facebook. The whole rink applauded that kind of thought from Norway.

Le public des Coventry Blaze

Le match restera très serré jusqu’aux prolongations, et ce contre assassin des polonais, en supériorité numérique, qui crucifiait les rouennais. Dommage !!!!
The game was really closed for both teams till the overtime period, and this Polish counter-attack, in a powerplay situation, which crucified the Rouennais. What a pity !

Le premier match de cette poule est, comme il y deux ans, contre Bolzano, un match à regrets pour les rouennais.
The first game in this tournament is, like a couple of years ago, against Bolzano, plenty of regrets for the Rouennais.

Il leur aura manqué ce qui, à notre goût compose la base d’un match de hockey « européen » l’engagement, la détermination et surtout l’esprit d’équipe car techniquement il y avait la place pour la victoire.
We could say that, for our point of view, what takes a fully part of a European ice-hockey game, commitment, determination and first thing first, a team spirit cause technically speaking, there were enough space for victory.

Des regrets encore et encore mais on commence à s’y habituer …
Regrets again and again but we’re starting to get used to…
